SHOULDER BONE FRACTURES

SHOULDER BONE FRACTURES

Shoulder bone fractures are post-traumatic, arm bone (humerus bone), intra-articular fractures, shoulder roof bone fracture, fractures of the collarbone (clavicle bone) and shoulder blade (scapula bone) that join the shoulder joint. While it may heal with an arm sling and bandages, the patient may require surgery.

Şikayet
Pain, swelling and limitation of movement are observed. Complaints may vary depending on the size of the fracture. The patient can move his arm and shoulder even though they are broken.
Muayene
In addition to limitation of movement, which varies depending on the type of fracture, swelling on the shoulder head, around the shoulder or in the arm, and bruises extending to the elbow may be observed. There is pain during the examination. The examination is performed without forcing the patient.
Teşhis
X-rays are often required for diagnosis. If undissociated fractures that cannot be seen on x-ray are suspected, imaging with magnetic resonance or computed tomography may be requested. If surgery is deemed necessary, computerized tomography results are used for planning.
Tedavi
Most shoulder fractures can be treated by resting the arm. Depending on the shape of the fracture, union can be achieved within 3-6 weeks with the arm sling or velpeau bandage method. Disintegrated, difficult-to-union fractures can be operated on. Restriction of movement and pain may occur in the shoulder after shoulder fractures with or without surgery. In general, 15-25 sessions of physical therapy can be applied after bone union. The patient regains his/her previous condition within an average of 3-6 months. It takes at least 6 months to return to sports activities.
